Transport Infrastructure Directorate (TID) was established in 2018 under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development (MoPID) of Madhesh Province (initially called Province No. 2) after the federalism of Nepal.

The main motto of the organization is to develop, maintain and manage effectively and efficiently overall transport infrastructures of Madhesh Province under its privilege.

The main aim of the organization is to develop and implement plans, policy, programs, guidelines, and specifications for the Sustainable construction, up gradation, maintenance and management of transport infrastructure.

It also helps local level Government and other Development agencies by providing Technical support as well as Communication with higher Authority. TID monitor, co-ordinate, regulate the under offices like Infrastructure Development Offices (IDO) and implement major project for efficient and effective implementation of plan and program.

The TID is the central authority of Madhesh Province Government charged with the responsibilities for enhancing the economic and social development of the Province by linking various geographical and economic regions through the Provincial transport network.

TID is responsible for linking rural areas of the Province with Markets, School, Health post, Tourism Place and administrative center of Local level as well as Province Capital to support various economic, Social and cultural activities.

Moreover, the key role of the Directorate lies with preparing plans, policies, and programs regarding the development of transport physical infrastructures such as roadways, waterways, ropeways, subways and flyovers;  its implementation; co-ordination; inspection; monitoring and evaluation; as well as Capacity development of Transport Sector technical person  .
